INTERNET-BASED CLASSES
Using Google Drive
Your free Google
account (which is your Gmail
address) also opens up a
world of free Google
applications including
Google Drive. This app
provides free storage for
your files so that you can
access them anywhere at any
time through the internet on
ANY device. But much more
than this, Google Drive
provides FREE programs such
as spreadsheet (sheets),
word processing (docs),
presentation (slides) and
more, which rival Microsoft
Office products.
In this class we will
introduce you to the basic
uses of Google Drive so that
you can see how and why it
should be part of your
technology family of apps.
We will be using a Windows
computer to demonstrate
Google Drive in the class,
so I would recommend that
you bring your own Windows
laptop computer to the
class, OR you can use one
available for you in the
classroom at the library.
Google Drive has a different
appearance on tablets
(iPads) and smart phones
(iPhones) and we will not
have the time to demonstrate
Google Drive on these or
other devices.
Date: December 7 (one
session) | Day: Thursday |
Time: 10:30 - 11:30 am
Location: Gulf Gate Library
Technology lab, second floor

SECURITY AWAREMESS
FOR EVERYONE - "SAFE"
Today, nearly all that you
do is some way handled by
computers and the Internet.
Computers, tablets, smart
phones, and other devices
connect you to websites that
you likely use for your
banking, credit cards,
retirement accounts,
investments, and medical
purposes, just to name a
few.
These websites contain
information about you and
all aspects of your life.
This information needs to be
protected against
unauthorized access, which
can result in identity
theft, impersonation, and
criminal use. How do you
protect yourself? What are
viruses and what can they do
to your information? How can
you protect yourself against
identity theft? How can you
tell if an act of identity
theft is occurring? This
90-minute class describes
and answers the questions
above, so you can identify,
avoid, protect and defend
yourself against such
threats. Be SAFE, Compute
SAFE, Feel SAFE!
